Communications
The Tecra M4 supports the following internal communications devices:
- Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG (802.11 b/g). Mini-PCI
- Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915ABG (802.11a/b/g) , Mini-PCI
- Bluetooth® (Ver 2.0 + EDR)
- Internal Modem Daughter Card (MDC), ITU-T V.90 Standard
- Internal LAN, Marvell, supports 10/100Mbit Ethernet
- i.LINK (IEEE1394)
- Infrared Port, compatible with Fast infrared (FIR) standards enabling wireless 4 Mbps, 1.152 Mbps, 115.2 kbps, 57.6 kbps, 38.4 kbps, 19.2 kbps or 9.6 kbps data transfer with Infrared Data Association (IrDA) 1.1 compatible external devices.
Many Tecra M4 owners have updated the Intel Pro/Wireless software & drivers with the latest from the Intel.com website. They claim better performance and stability over the drivers on Toshibas support site.
Bluetooth
The Tecra M4 has support for an optional internal bluetooth module. If you don't have one you can probably get one from Toshiba. A few M4 owners report that the bluetooth module from the M200 also work in the M4.
The Tecra M4 Bluetooth module is made by Cambridge Silicon Radio. The parts required to install/"repair" the Bluetooth 2.0 module are:

Logitech Bluetooth Headphones for iPod
The Logitech Bluetooth Headphones for iPod can be used as wireless stereo headphones with the Tecra M4. The procedure is:
- Charge the Bluetooth headphones with the supplied A/C adapter.
- Turn on the Bluetooth on the M4, if needed.
- Hold the center button on the right headphone until the LED flashes an alternating Red & Blue.
- On the M4, open the bluetooth settings window.
- Press the "New Connection" button.
- Scan and detect the bluetooth headphones.
- If prompted for a pin number, enter 0000 (four zeros).
MSI FS300 Bluetooth Headphones
The MSI FS300 Bluetooth Stereo headphones can be made to work with the Tecra M4. I have installed Toshiba's Bluetooth stack v4.00.36. To get past the copyright-protected SCMS-T message, you need to run the CheckTosSCMSCheck utility each time you login (before connecting the headphones):
