Q: Why does my battery lose power when my system is shutdown and unplugged?

Because the "Wake-up on LAN" feature is enabled.  With the "Wake-up on LAN" enabled, the Tecra M4, when turned off, will still supply some power to the Ethernet adapter inside the Tablet so the unit can be remotely powered on by management software (to do upgrades or inventory, etc.).  You can disable this feature to extend the battery life while unit is in the powered down state. Disable the "Wake-up on LAN" feature in the Toshiba HW Setup utility.  You can launch the Toshiba HW Setup by going to Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware > Toshiba HW Setup (XP view, using Windows Classic View the Toshiba HW Setup Utility is simply in Control Panel) and then select the LAN tab. Select the Disable button in the box labeled "Wake-up on LAN" under the LAN tab.  Another way is to disable it in the BIOS.
