Q: Where can I get information about the Intel Pentium M processor?
http://indigo.intel.com/Syndication/DistributeModule.aspx?a=55&m=172&l=1&ppc_cid=GF1_0055017201
Q: How can I get information about the Intel Processor in my machine?
Start->Settings->Control Panel->System
Or use the Intel Frequency ID utility: http://www.intel.com/support/processors/tools/frequencyid/freqid.htm
Or use the CPU-Z utility: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
Q: What chipset is in the Tecra M4?
Intel® 915PM Express Chipset: http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/915pm/index.htm
Q: What is the maximum operating internal temperature of the Pentium M processor?
The maximum specified temperature junction is 100 degrees C. The Pentium M will automatically lower the clock frequency if the processor core exceeds the maximum of 100 degrees C. There is a catastrophic thermal protection circuit that will halt the processor if the reaches 125 degrees C.
Note: You should not run your system at or near the maximum specified temperature. You should have a safety margin in case there are any future problems with the cooling components of your system. You should be fine if your system is below 90'C.
Q: What is the fastest processor that I can put in my Tecra M4?
Toshiba sells the Tecra M4 with the following processors:
- Intel® Pentium® M Processor 730 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 533MHz FSB)
- Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 (1.73GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 533MHz FSB)
- Intel® Pentium® M Processor 750 (1.86GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 533MHz FSB)
- Intel® Pentium® M Processor 760 (2.00GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 533MHz FSB)
- Intel® Pentium® M Processor 770 (2.13GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 533MHz FSB)
- Intel® Pentium® M Processor 780 (2.26GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 533MHz FSB)
Q: What utilities can I use to under-volt the Pentium M processor?
RightMark CPU Clock Utility does it well. The Notebook Hardware Control (v 1.10 BETA 01) can do it but interfers with the Toshiba Power Saver utility.
